Wednesday 24th
-a.m.-17 miles-2 times 6 miles at 5:15 pace at Stony Creek with the Chicago Marathon group of Mike Fox, James Landers, Nick Cordes, and Ben Rosario.  Calves got tight because I might need a less flat bottomed “Flat”.  Been happening in a lot of the workouts with them lately. 1st 6 miles splits (5:15, 5:17, 15, 14, 13, 15 and my responsibility was number 4) (Total 31:33)  2nd 6 miles we could go faster after the first 3 miles.  We had a 10 minute break or so and then started.  My lead number 3 (5:14, 5:14, 15, 08, 4:59, 4:49) (30:41 for 6+ miles)  One of my best stony miles ever at the end of this tough workout.  Great workout with recovering from my sickness the last week or so.

Thursday 25th
-a.m.-10 miles (1:04) 6:30 pace-perty casual run to Stony trails-p.m. 6 miles-Royal Oak community social run 6:18, 6:02, 6:??, 5:59, 5:57, 6??.  Lots of coughing still b/c medicine is kicking the bad crap out of body

Friday 26th
a.m.-(1:32)-6:30 pace-Running in and out of the pack because I was running my comfort level today, calves still a little sore-Didn’t feel good, must be medicine and training

Saturday 27th
a.m.-20 miles at a community ½ marathon.  Supposed to run less but course marshall accidentally misdirected us and we finished the race with about 17 miles total instead of 13.  Had fun with it and enjoyed running some dirt roads north of Rochester.  Warmed down 3 miles with Cordes.  Felt like I was working too hard 1st 10 miles at 6:00 pace so slowed down and felt way better.  Today was why you should always look at the course map if there is one, no matter what your place.  I was in like 5th place or so and the 4 leaders were out of sight.  I started to think about the finish line and how in the heck we were going to get there by 13 miles.  Maybe I looked at the map wrong???  I thought.  Well, I ended up stopping at the next corner and jogging in place until the next person arrived and we still didn’t know what to do.  We decided to run back the way we were running and Turn everyone around b/c the finish line was definitely the other way.  Funny to see peoples faces with laughter and un-sureness.  No runners knew the way.

Sunday 28th
a.m.-No long run today b/c I did it yesterday.- 12 miles-at Auburn hills Sunday Community run (6:50, 6:23, 5:52, 5:49, 5:40, 5:25, 10:43 for next 2 miles, 5:19, 5:26) Nice to run marathon pace for 5 miles today feeling comfortable.  Most of run by myself behind group at first then catching people.  10 miles iin 57:31, Nice, smart run.  –p.m- 6miles- with Ben Rosario Medium easy (38:42)

Monday 29th
a.m.- 12 miles (1:13)- 6:05-15 mostly with Jeff Campbell.  New Twinkler, Eminem’s house, Golf Course Stony loop, just chilling running my pace-medium easy p.m. 6 miles, 6:30 or slower (41:00), Bloomer 6 miler from apartment, lightheaded, must be because low food or late run?

Total Weekly Mileage 119

Difficulty of Week (5 on a 10 scale)

Mileage okay with body but would not have minded running less.  (4’s instead of 6’s in the p.m.)  1 workout this week went well and most of stress while running was coughing and getting over the sickness.

Immediate goals are to stretch a touch more, get massage or get on foam roller.  SUB 2:22 and go at some point in Chicago.  18-22 mile point?

Overall happy with body.  Would take this current strength on marathon day.  Just need to eliminate cough which should happen when medicine runs its course.  Would love to feel just a bit better for Chicago so hopefully sticking to the program works.  Just never done a marathon taper before.
